All About Golf

Sunny laid back Sunday morning, extended weekends or a vacation, discussion on none of these is complete without a mention of golf. What exactly is Golf? Well it is an outdoor ball game wherein the aim is to hit the ball into a series of holes in the minimum possible strokes. A round of golf consists of 18 holes. Now the number of strokes you need to hit one hole is your Par. Each hole has a teeing area around it, which includes a fairway, a rough sideway and a green well-mown area around the hole. Then there are the “not so wanted” barriers like sand traps, water etc that are called the bunkers.

I would recommend that everyone buy these golf balls -- I got balls very quick and they were outstanding. golf ball-r-us is a very nice company to work with. I would order from them again

The quality of the balls in this package were not AAA in my opinion, more like "B". Several of the balls had scuff marks from trees and/or cart paths. Also, the overall look of the golf balls were very gray or dingy. Makes me think they were in the water a long time. I wouldn't order them again.

These Titleist balls are those that are lost on the courses but then salvaged by the greens keepers or others. They are cleaned up and then packaged. Overall I am quite pleased with them. Since they are from different sleeves, you might need to mark your balls before you use them in a group. I would recommend the use of these balls.

I ordered these expecting some serious scuffing and some X-Outs. The details while orderings was a little vage. But I figured it would be worth it at this price. What I got was 36 balls with practicaly no scuffs and no x-out balls. I got 13 pro v1 392's and 23 Pro v1's. Some had logo's and a few players marking but most was perfect.GREAT VALUE. Thanks

I ordered AAA some of balls were questionable ... would never order less than AAA.

These balls are a terrific bargain. I ordered 72, and they are all in excellent condition, virtually pristine. Looking down at the occasional corporate logo is a small price to pay for the steep discount you get over the cost of the same balls bought new. They were also shipped promptly.

24 of the 36 balls that came in the package were in perfect condition, most had a logo on them and a few had Sharpie marks. The other 12 had minor scrapes that by no means leave them unplayable, with the exception of one that had a dimple-sized gouge in one spot. Can't go wrong for this price, especially if you're like me and sick of playing cheaper balls just because you're on a budget.

This order arrived on time and in good condition. All the balls looked in good shape but 13 of the 36 were logo balls. 2 had player marks. The ones I've played, play as new balls would. Gave this a 4 rating only because of the number of logo balls not that the logo balls are bad, just too many of them. I will keep buying these as long as they are offered by Amazon. Great ball at a price I can afford.

The description lists these as "excellent" which is more or less correct. I found several balls with scuffs which was disappointing. I expected logo overruns but not as many scuffs as I received. On the package it says the balls are actually taken and re-coated with a clear coating to bring them back to a like new condition. Would have been nice to have this listed in the description. One other observation was that some of these balls were several years old. I could tell because some of the logo's were for events several years past. In reality unless you are close to a scratch golfer I doubt any of these issues will impact your game at all. Good price on three dozen balls for the weekend golfer.

Overall I think this was a great purchase and I will probably buy these again. The only issue I have with these balls is that there are at least a dozen balls with company logos on them. This is a distraction when I'm playing, so I gave them to my son.

Callaway HX Hot Recycled Golf Balls (36 Pack) Callaway HX Hot Recycled Golf Balls (36 Pack)

I guess I am the lucky one because I have received all 36 HX Hot balls. The only problem I had was the ball quality was not as good as Nike Super Far balls.

I am an avid golfer, although not a very good one. Initially when I started playing I went through alot of golf balls. I wanted to play with a decent ball but could not afford it losing around a dozen balls a round. I purchased these ball online used. They were in great shape. Most of the balls were without scuffs and the outer lining did not have any deeps scrapes. I would highly recommend. Although they will not lower your score.

The other review on these recycled golf balls are dead on. The majority of the balls are in very good shape, a few with odd advertising logos, like Cadillac and some radio station, but still in good condition. The drawback, however, is that I too, had about 5 non HX Hot golf balls in the package. Hard to imagine it's by mistake. So imagine you're getting about 31 slightly used, still expensive, HX Hot golf balls, and 5 less expensive Callaway golf balls. In short, I bought these golf balls simply to see if I like them. And at a buck a ball, I won't worry too much if they stray off the fairway too much. Being the elitist, yet poor-playing golfer that I am; I enjoy hitting a fairly pricey golf ball, but there's little sense in buying these "high performers" brand new. If they were brand new, they would still fine there way in the sand, forest, and the water. In hindsight, I should probably get a discount on recycled golf balls...it's the new balls that I always lose after hitting them only once. That stated, they seem to be a good golf ball, and I would probably buy them again.

The golf balls arrived in a plastic egg-like carton. They were all in excellent condition. However, on closer inspection, 4 of the 36 balls were a different Callaway model than HX Hot. They included 4 CX3 Hot models, which are a much cheaper (and under-performing) model which can be purchased new at discount stores such as WalMart very imexpensively. So all in all, it's still a great buy, but be aware that you may not receive a full count of the balls you expected to receive.

Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing: The Revolutionary Biomechanics Workout Program Used by Tour Pros Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing: The Revolutionary Biomechanics Workout Program Used by Tour Pros

This is a must read for anyone who wants to improve their golf game. This book does an excellent job of explaining how your body works during the golf swing, and how to condition your body for improvement. The workouts are very helpful and will help you increase flexibility and add power to your swing.

I think the excersises would be very beneficial. Problem is the black and white photos are small and hard to make out. The written descriptions are fine as far as they go but it's hard to know exactly how to do them without better photos.

Easy to read and understand. Your swing will not be fixed until you understand your body's deficiencies. This book will help you do so and correct what you have been doing and hopefully correct your swing.

i am a personal trainer, and have just taken up golf this summer...this book is basically a 6 -pt evaluation and has several exercises listed to fix each..really about 2 minutes of reading for someone with a reasonable knowledge of exercise..i was hoping that it would have some insightful biomechnic info, but it doesnt..eval was BASIC to say least.. good quick read maybe useful for someone w/ minimal exercise experience..not a fan of authors writing style humor..sorry.. it gave me a few idea

Bo Links has written one of the finest books about Ben Hogan and golf in general ever.

This is a thoroughly entertaining book! It is in the can't-put-down category. The author weaves a tale that transports the reader to a club situated in golf heaven (or the twilight zone). At this club the greats of the game all belong and play golf matches - each at the height of their powers. For anyone who truly loves the game of golf, and has any reverence for Jones, Hagen and especially Ben Hogan, this is a must read. It's a simple and lovely tale that will leave you feeling warm and satisfied.

This book was purchased for someone else who is an avid fan of golf. He loved it.

book was reconstructed upside down-- All the pages are backwards(must read from back to front--- Very difficult to read. Your mail site screwed me & charged for 2 day when I was just checking out the cost. Book $6.00 Mail $ 12.00 ridiculous- I will get hosed once, but not a second time jerry gosland ,

Mr. Links (great name) captures the spirit of the game of golf in this easy read. His historic knowledge of golf's greatest players as well as his personal understanding of the dreams of every weekend golfer make this a "must read" for any golf lover.

The Swing: Mastering the Principles of the Game The Swing: Mastering the Principles of the Game

Reviews

I have read quite a few golf books (by Jack Nicklaus, etc.) but this book was really great. I have been playing golf since 1969 and I have had a problem with hitting the ball to the right. This book finally showed the weak and strong grip and I changed my grip so it was stronger and now am hitting the ball straight (and sometimes even with a slight draw). I really like the way the book was written, namely that a player can always work on his golf swing, and try to improve various aspects of it, just as Nick Price has done throughout his career. This book is definitely worth reading for anyone who wishes to improve his golf game.

I do not have the book yet, I am in vacations until the middle of this month. Later I will send the review.

In the text on the set-up several times he says bend from the waist,in summing up he says bend from the hips; as a scratch golfer who has played for more than 55 years I know you cannot have it both ways.

Excellent didactic from grip through follow through. This book simplifies the swing to its bare essentials. Excellent anecdotes and swing drills included. Most impressive to me is his criticism of Ben Hogan's classic "Five Step" book with reference to the shoulder plane during the swing and how it forced his swing as a young man to be too upright. This book is not for the 25 or above handicapper simply because the numerous descriptions and examples would probably hurt a very-high handicapper rather than help him/her. But for those below a 25, who are familiar with golf lingo, this book provides excellent structure for working on one's swing.

As a boy, back in the 60's, the first golf book I ever read was Hogan's "Power Golf". Soon after I read his "Five Lessons." Both are classics. The later, revered as an almost "holy" exposition of swing thought. Since that time, I've read most all the available golf texts. I have never failed to learn something from all of them, but I never felt that any of them were as seminal as either of Hogan's. Nick Price has now taken the Hogan torch. In "The Swing" he has written the next absolute classic. This book IS seminal and a must read for any golfer at any skill level. Price relates swing theory in a readable and understandable way while creating in the mind of the reader the belief that a consistent and functional golf swing is attainable. Get it, read it, live it! You will be a better golfer for having done so

Not since Ben Hogan in the 1950s has a dominant player so thoroughly addressed golf's central enigma: how to develop and repeat an effective swing, the only way any player can hope to truly improve. In the early '90s, after years of struggle and determination, Nick Price emerged as the world's finest golfer,"striking the ball," as Ben Crenshaw observed, "as well as anyone since Ben Hogan or Byron Nelson...

A few are x-outs, but the rest seem good. One ball is marked as 2000 US Open Championship so if it's correct, these could be some really old balls. They have small imperfections but it doesn't seem to affect the driving performance.

what is there for me to say bad about these. I am not a great player, and these are not great balls. i can't tell the difference between these and much more expensive balls, so why not purchase a lot of them(as i lose a lot of them) on the cheap. i am sure by the time i go through all of these balls, i will have graduated to some higher quality ones. great for this beginner.

Overall I'm satisfied with this purchase. The balls look like they were found on a golf course somewhere, cleaned and some possibly re-coated. Evidence indicates that mine came from Florida somewhere. (University of Florida logos, area codes and Florida business logos on some of them) Total Count Bag 1 3 Mint Condition (Perfect White, No Scuff Marks) 24 Fair-Good Condition (Slight Scuff Marks, Discoloration, Sharpee Marker) 6 Poor Condition (Bad Discoloration, Worn down coat, Bad Scuff marks) Bag 2 4 Mint Condition 27 Fair-Good 3 Poor Condition

A perfect gift. We got them for my brother-in-law and he loves them. All the balls were in great shape, no problems with any of them.

This is a great deal. The balls are very clean, mostly. Out of 60, I think maybe 5 were tarnished and had the slightest nicks on them. I separated the two packs that it comes in, so that I could use the better half during games and the other half for practice, but save for those 5, they ended up pretty similar in quality. I'll be using a bunch for pitching and putting practice soon. Having lost a lot of golf balls in my earlier days, I feel like I'm getting my investment back in this package. Who knows, maybe some of them were mine at some point! Ha ha, seriously, if you're still in the process of learning, chances are you lose 5 or more balls on a course. So if you don't want to spend $3 per ball, I highly recommend. Great value.

It is believed to have originated from an ancient game called chole, supposedly meaning, “ball”. Most of the people believe that Scotland is where Golf was born, probably out of a banned 15th century game called ‘gowf’. However many folklore relate it as an acronym for Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden. The modern Golf came into being again in Scotland in the later half of the 19th century. Later on over the 20th century golf saw a facelift with a variety of golf equipments and techniques being invented.

Golf has woven itself in the social fabric as the game of the elite and high-end businessmen. Would you believe if we tell you that many US business school add golf to their management curriculum? It is a game of social status. After all one has to shell out huge sums on latest equipment, the right clothing and the green fees of the golf course. This has still kept golf away from the reach of common man. Nevertheless, the massive popularity of the game can be judged by the very fact that there are over 32,000 golf courses in the world!

Players move around the golf course with their caddies who manage the equipments of the players. The player whose ball is farthest from the hole gets a chance to play first when each individual player has had his chance of playing the ball once. The game is won by the person or the team that scores the maximum holes. It can be played by teams in foursome or by individuals. A very interesting term taking rounds in the golfing community is “Golf handicap.” This is the score of proficiency of different players, which affect their net score, thus allowing players of different capacities to play against each other.

People say golf is not played by rules but by etiquettes. However, there are a few laid down rules. The most basic are "play the ball as it lies", "play the course as you find it", and "if you cannot do either, do what is fair". A Golfer can play several types of shots such as tee shot, fairway shot, bunker shot, puts, pitch, flop, chip and a golf swing. A golf swing is the most complex shot that involves perfect coordination of the complete anatomy of the player.

Over the years golf equipment has grown in term of sophistication and technique. From golf balls, tees and clubs to golf carts, bags shoes, etc; it is a whole big market out there. The British officers first started professional golf. Now there are several Golf tournaments like PGA tour, Ryder Cup, U.S. Open etc. In this time and age when pollution is a big problem, the vast golf courses prove to be the breathing lungs of cities and towns where they are located. They nurture the local flora and fauna and provide a welcome respite from the concrete jungle.
