Alignment - The Most Important Lesson in Golf

When I watch inexperienced golfers players hit the ball I find that they are usually mis-alinged to their target. Typically, they aim way too far out to the right. The reason they aim to the right is because the inexperienced player has the tendency to hit the ball with their arms which causes the ball to pull to the left. This means that they are compensating for a flaw in their swing by just aiming their body out to the right instead of fixing the actual flaw.

I ordered these Wiffle Balls on a Friday and they were at my house on Monday. Thats a couple of days sooner then the estimated delivery date. Great service and a great product. None of the stores in my town carry the Wiffle brand. Other brands of practice golf balls that I have used split at the seams after only short time.

You know that sort of soft, slightly flexy, and smoooth plastic that Wiffle baseballs have? These golf balls use it, too. I don't know about you but I love it. Especially when I'm throwing the harder knock-off brand plastic balls with all their little prickly slivers sticking out and whatnot. Anyway, these balls feel good in the hand, have a nice weight to them, and come off the bat very crisply. Yes, "bat." I don't golf. My kids love to play with these balls, too, for hitting and throwing and also for general ball games on the floor in the house. Note that this plastic, like all others I've seen, will embrittle if left in the sun. Not as much, perhaps, as other balls but enough to break when hit next year.

This is a great product that has really helped improve my contact when I swing

We use these for batting practice -- promotes hand eye coorination. But whether for golf or baseball, the idea is you can practice mechanics without the balls going too far, making it easy to pick up after. They work, they last.

These practice balls are named perfectly. It is almost like hitting a golf ball. Unfortunately, my 100 foot yard is too small for me to practice with these. I wish I could use them, but in my yard I use the foam practice balls so my neighbors aren't bothered. They feel good, fly too well for me, and I'd recommend them for anyone with just a little more room than what I have.

I have a large yard so I love these balls. If you do not have a large yard these are not the balls for you. These balls go alot farther than any other practice ball I have ever hit. My average drive is about 290 yards and I carry these balls about 110 yards. Also I can hit my 5 iron 75 yards. If you do not have a big yard you will be losing golfballs.

These balls are great! Light weight enough to not go flying too far, heavy enough to feel like your actually hitting the ball. Definately recommend!

For safe swing practice in the neighborhood park, these are probably the best option on the market. They draw and fade like a real ball, with just a couple of problems. First, because they are light, the effects of the wind are exaggerated. With a tailwind they fly very straight and far. Cross winds move them a ton, and a headwind will cause the low- and mid-irons to balloon. The other problem with the weight is that it is tough to feel the contact point when you hit the heel, the toe, or skull one. All that said, they are incomparably superior to the yellow foam balls or the plastic whiffle balls, both of which are essentially useless. The Almostgolf ball lets you get real swing practice and, if the wind is down, get a pretty good idea of your swing line and spin. Just what the coach ordered for a player who can't get to the range as often as they would like. They are also completely safe. I banged one straight off a big window with my driver and all it made was a noisy slap; no damage. It is also fun to get a friend and hit them to each other from 30-50 yards with no risk of injury.

The patented solid core with internal pressure design allows the Point3 to travel one third the distance of a real golf ball, so golfers can turn their backyards into a true driving range experience for real results out on the course.

I ordered and paid for a "dozen" balls but only received nine (9). Three phone calls and a month later I finally received the three (3) balls missing from the original shipment. I ordered on Amazon because these are for my grandsons who were coming to visit, I will get the other three to them later but we all learned a lesson, next time I will go to a retail store where I can buy cheaper and can get any error corrected on the spot.

My comments are the same as other customer / reviewer - the item is $2 and shipping is $10. Product is fine, but to have a shipping charge of 5 times the retail cost seems silly.

Problem with misleading costs. Product is $2.70/2.75 and shipping is $9.95. Not clear that shipping was so high in relation to the small item.

The CSI white perforated golf ball is perfect for at home golf training. Many people chip these balls around on the carpet to make tremendous strides in their short game. The CSI golf perforated balls are 1 5/8" in diameter, the same size as any official golf ball...

The Point3 is the first neighborhood safe practice ball that performs like a real golf ball. Which means you can practice anytime, anywhere. Thanks to its internal pressure, cross linked construction the Point3 fades, draws and spins-- just like a real golf ball!-- but its completely neighborhood safe and backyard friendly...

What this boils down to, is that the inexperienced players' bad swings make the ball go on target and their perfect swings make the ball end up in the trees, or bunker on the right of the target. So, they are seeing their good shots as bad shots and bad shots as good shots. If this is the case, the inexperienced player will never want to fix their swing flaws. If they don’t fix their flaws they will never reach their golfing potential. This is why I call alignment the most important lesson in golf.

Check Your Alignment

In order to find out if you are a player that has swing flaws, you must check your alignment. To do this, all you have to do is pick out a target and do your normal set up. Once you feel like you are ready, lay a club down at your heels or toes. Then, step back about 10 paces behind the ball to see where you are actually aimed. If the club you placed at your toes or heels is parallel left of your actual target, you have properly aligned yourself. If the club on the ground points to the right of your target you are mis-aligned.

If you find that you are mis-aligned, you must learn to square up your stance. To do this, simply find a target in the distance that you want to hit the ball to. Take out 2 golf clubs that you rarely hit (ie. 3 iron and 4 iron). Take the first club and lay it down directly at the target (you will have to step back a few paces to check this). Place the second club parallel to the first club on the ground. Now, take away the first club that is pointing at the target. You should have one club on the ground that is parallel to the left of your target.

Once you have the club on the ground parallel to your target line you have a guide to help you align your feet, knees, hips and shoulders squarely. If you aim your body squarely to the club on the ground and you hit the ball to the left of your target you have just found out that you are pulling the golf ball which means you are trying to hit the ball too hard with only your arms. If you hit the ball to the right of the target from this square alignment you are sliding your body too much laterally through impact which is causing the ball to fly to the right.

Learning that you are mis-aligned can be quite shocking at first but don't think of it as a bad thing, think of it as a good thing. It's a good thing because you now know that you have a swing flaw and you can get on the road to fixing it so that you can play even better golf in the future.

Until next time,

Paul Wilson
