All About Golf

Sunny laid back Sunday morning, extended weekends or a vacation, discussion on none of these is complete without a mention of golf. What exactly is Golf? Well it is an outdoor ball game wherein the aim is to hit the ball into a series of holes in the minimum possible strokes. A round of golf consists of 18 holes. Now the number of strokes you need to hit one hole is your Par. Each hole has a teeing area around it, which includes a fairway, a rough sideway and a green well-mown area around the hole. Then there are the “not so wanted” barriers like sand traps, water etc that are called the bunkers.

Made of sturdy and durable wood with hunter green felt backing, the rack holds 25 balls and can stand on it's own, or be hung on the wall. This is a great deal! We normally don't sell anything but our used golf balls, but we received a load of them and want to move them out.

Easy to read and understand. Your swing will not be fixed until you understand your body's deficiencies. This book will help you do so and correct what you have been doing and hopefully correct your swing.

i am a personal trainer, and have just taken up golf this summer...this book is basically a 6 -pt evaluation and has several exercises listed to fix each..really about 2 minutes of reading for someone with a reasonable knowledge of exercise..i was hoping that it would have some insightful biomechnic info, but it doesnt..eval was BASIC to say least.. good quick read maybe useful for someone w/ minimal exercise experience..not a fan of authors writing style humor..sorry.. it gave me a few idea

The Swing: Mastering the Principles of the Game The Swing: Mastering the Principles of the Game

Reviews

I have read quite a few golf books (by Jack Nicklaus, etc.) but this book was really great. I have been playing golf since 1969 and I have had a problem with hitting the ball to the right. This book finally showed the weak and strong grip and I changed my grip so it was stronger and now am hitting the ball straight (and sometimes even with a slight draw). I really like the way the book was written, namely that a player can always work on his golf swing, and try to improve various aspects of it, just as Nick Price has done throughout his career. This book is definitely worth reading for anyone who wishes to improve his golf game.

I do not have the book yet, I am in vacations until the middle of this month. Later I will send the review.

In the text on the set-up several times he says bend from the waist,in summing up he says bend from the hips; as a scratch golfer who has played for more than 55 years I know you cannot have it both ways.

Excellent didactic from grip through follow through. This book simplifies the swing to its bare essentials. Excellent anecdotes and swing drills included. Most impressive to me is his criticism of Ben Hogan's classic "Five Step" book with reference to the shoulder plane during the swing and how it forced his swing as a young man to be too upright. This book is not for the 25 or above handicapper simply because the numerous descriptions and examples would probably hurt a very-high handicapper rather than help him/her. But for those below a 25, who are familiar with golf lingo, this book provides excellent structure for working on one's swing.

As a boy, back in the 60's, the first golf book I ever read was Hogan's "Power Golf". Soon after I read his "Five Lessons." Both are classics. The later, revered as an almost "holy" exposition of swing thought. Since that time, I've read most all the available golf texts. I have never failed to learn something from all of them, but I never felt that any of them were as seminal as either of Hogan's. Nick Price has now taken the Hogan torch. In "The Swing" he has written the next absolute classic. This book IS seminal and a must read for any golfer at any skill level. Price relates swing theory in a readable and understandable way while creating in the mind of the reader the belief that a consistent and functional golf swing is attainable. Get it, read it, live it! You will be a better golfer for having done so

Not since Ben Hogan in the 1950s has a dominant player so thoroughly addressed golf's central enigma: how to develop and repeat an effective swing, the only way any player can hope to truly improve. In the early '90s, after years of struggle and determination, Nick Price emerged as the world's finest golfer,"striking the ball," as Ben Crenshaw observed, "as well as anyone since Ben Hogan or Byron Nelson...

Bought this for my dad and he was more than pleased. Even though the balls are recycled, they were in really good shape and perfect for beginning golfers. Great price too!

My husband was very very happy with the product. They are the good stuff. thanks

Happy with my purchase being a beginner golfer these will be fine all the balls were as advertised and did not have any in the bag as un-usable. One thing for caution if you do order these I ordered two orders 120 balls and was sent only 60 balls they are shipped in bags of thirty and had to call customer service to get it squared away. Th balls were sent right out and that was the end of the issue but just make sure you get what you are paying for.

you wont be able to beat the value for the price! the quality of the golf balls is brand new to like new also. when you can get golf balls at this kind of a bargain, why would you blow your money on overpriced brand new ones? ... unless of course, you play good enough.

these are pretty good used balls for practing. I used them a lot and they are pretty good for being used.

I purchased this product from this site without realizing how much more I was actually paying. I received the golf balls with the price tag of $45 still on the box. I paid over $62 plus shipping! Do yourself a favor and purchase them somewhere else! My husband LOVED this gift, so I didn't have the heart to send them back. Apparently, they are worth the price...just not $20 over!

Of course it's a good ball. Although there are many good balls out there. The 1-star rating is due to the price. The price I see as of this writing, $59.95/doz, is ridiculous. You can do better than that at any Sports Authority. Or any Pro Shop, for that matter.

I am a 2 handicap, and I have tried the Callaway HX balls, Bridgestones, Nike One Platinum and the ProV1 is still the best ball out there. The cover is soft enough to be able to spin the ball, but still stands up to wear and tear. I usually use 2 balls per round max. It's actually a little longer off the tee than last year's model too.

Well, simply put... now that they can't use stolen technology. It's an inferior golf ball. Exactly why the are loosing pros.

they have a lot of bite "easy to put spin on" if that is what you like and controllable

The balls themselves are decent quality. But the issue was not the quality of the balls but the amount. I ordered a 60 ball pack and was shipped a 30 ball pack. The great folks at Amazon apologized, even though they had nothing to do with what was shipped, and refunded half the money to me since I was shipped half the amount that was ordered. 5 stars for the people at Amazon.

These are ok for daily use. Though NOT top notch, its okay to play!

If you loose a lot of balls in your round buy these. I does not hurt each time you loose one. Excellent performance. I recommend them.

With 60 Titleist golf balls, I expected to be able to "play the best balls at a fraction of the new ball cost". Unfortunately, the product description just wasn't true. Although 30 of the balls were a DT variey which is considered a premium ball by Titleist, the other 30 were HP and HVC balls. These balls were made for the discount stores and sporting goods stores and are non-premium balls. In addition, the 30 balls came in 14 different varieties. You really can't try out a golf ball if you only have one or two of them. They were pretty much worthless except for shag balls. I would not buy this product again!!

Titleist Pro V1 AAA Recycled Golf Balls (36 Pack) Titleist Pro V1 AAA Recycled Golf Balls (36 Pack)

These Titleist balls are those that are lost on the courses but then salvaged by the greens keepers or others. They are cleaned up and then packaged. Overall I am quite pleased with them. Since they are from different sleeves, you might need to mark your balls before you use them in a group. I would recommend the use of these balls.

I ordered these expecting some serious scuffing and some X-Outs. The details while orderings was a little vage. But I figured it would be worth it at this price. What I got was 36 balls with practicaly no scuffs and no x-out balls. I got 13 pro v1 392's and 23 Pro v1's. Some had logo's and a few players marking but most was perfect.GREAT VALUE. Thanks

I ordered AAA some of balls were questionable ... would never order less than AAA.

Yeah, these are the best balls you can hit, but they aren't error correcting because they are designed to be power faded and sliced. This means they won't attempt to error correct like a "Straight" ball. Pro players love Pro v1's since they can side spin them with "english" to power fade them around the dogleg. If you have a slice or hook, this ball will only remind you of your imperfections as your $5+ golf ball glides into the rough, marsh or the water hazard. The best Pro v1 tip, wait until you are consistently hitting straight before you buy them, until then, consider the Titlelist NXT, you can also use the NXT tour but the tour version is meant for shot shapers and will mimic the Pro v1 when it comes to showing off your imperfections.

Most of the balls are in good shape, 4 are practice balls so not worth much. About 70% of the balls have logos on them but overall decent quality balls for the price.

It is believed to have originated from an ancient game called chole, supposedly meaning, “ball”. Most of the people believe that Scotland is where Golf was born, probably out of a banned 15th century game called ‘gowf’. However many folklore relate it as an acronym for Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden. The modern Golf came into being again in Scotland in the later half of the 19th century. Later on over the 20th century golf saw a facelift with a variety of golf equipments and techniques being invented.

Golf has woven itself in the social fabric as the game of the elite and high-end businessmen. Would you believe if we tell you that many US business school add golf to their management curriculum? It is a game of social status. After all one has to shell out huge sums on latest equipment, the right clothing and the green fees of the golf course. This has still kept golf away from the reach of common man. Nevertheless, the massive popularity of the game can be judged by the very fact that there are over 32,000 golf courses in the world!

Players move around the golf course with their caddies who manage the equipments of the players. The player whose ball is farthest from the hole gets a chance to play first when each individual player has had his chance of playing the ball once. The game is won by the person or the team that scores the maximum holes. It can be played by teams in foursome or by individuals. A very interesting term taking rounds in the golfing community is “Golf handicap.” This is the score of proficiency of different players, which affect their net score, thus allowing players of different capacities to play against each other.

People say golf is not played by rules but by etiquettes. However, there are a few laid down rules. The most basic are "play the ball as it lies", "play the course as you find it", and "if you cannot do either, do what is fair". A Golfer can play several types of shots such as tee shot, fairway shot, bunker shot, puts, pitch, flop, chip and a golf swing. A golf swing is the most complex shot that involves perfect coordination of the complete anatomy of the player.

Over the years golf equipment has grown in term of sophistication and technique. From golf balls, tees and clubs to golf carts, bags shoes, etc; it is a whole big market out there. The British officers first started professional golf. Now there are several Golf tournaments like PGA tour, Ryder Cup, U.S. Open etc. In this time and age when pollution is a big problem, the vast golf courses prove to be the breathing lungs of cities and towns where they are located. They nurture the local flora and fauna and provide a welcome respite from the concrete jungle.
